Costs
Gas, measured on the production bytecode.
Measured gas
| Operation | Gas |
|---|---|
| Launch, bare | ≈ 365,000 gas + 0.0004 ETH creation fee |
| Launch with a 6 KB icon and a first buy | ≈ 641,000 |
| Buy or sell on the curve | ≈ 80,000 – 120,000 |
| The buy that graduates (extra) | ≈ 500,000 |
| Buy or sell on the pool | ≈ 150,000 – 250,000 |
claim() | ≈ 40,000 |
Robinhood Chain gas has ranged from 0.4 to 1.9 gwei. At 1 gwei a launch with an icon is about 0.0006 ETH. The wallet shows the exact figure before you sign.
Why launches are cheap
Two decisions. Tokens are EIP-1167 clones of one implementation, so a launch writes a 45-byte proxy instead of deploying an ERC20. And description and icon are emitted in the Launched event, where bytes cost 8 to 16 gas each, instead of stored, where a 32-byte slot costs 20,000.
